My name is Felicia, and I am the potter and sculptor behind MaidofClay located in Burbank, a suburb of Los Angeles. Here in my "studio" (I use that term loosely) I create hand sculpted creatures with extra personality, and wheel thrown pottery in stoneware and porcelain. I do everything from the idea, the execution of the idea, the listing, the packing and the shipping until it arrives safely in your hands. I love all art mediums, but for the last 9 years I've been consumed by the art and craft of clay. I have four cats (Willoughby, Buster, Molly & Emmett) that I pamper overmuch, and I'm addicted to flea markets - I love finding treasures. I'm happily married and my husband loves cats and fleamarketing just as much as I do. I succumbed to what I’ve termed the “Call of the Wheel” in the Spring of 2000 when I discovered the frustrating, yet strangely meditative joy of throwing a pot. Throwing clay soon took a backseat to sculpting clay when I began shaping small forms to add to my thrown pieces. I work with high fire stoneware clay and porcelain and construct my sculptural pieces through a combination of handbuilding techniques. I am equally happy making both whimsical, silly pieces and more sophisticated art pottery. I don’t know how many people are interested in the technical aspects of clay, but, just in case…I bisque my greenware at cone 06 (over 1800 degrees) and I do both mid-range oxidation firing (cone 5 – 2205 degrees) and high fire gas reduction firing (cone 10 – 2381 degrees) for my glazed pieces. Thank you so much for taking time to visit my store and I hope you find something you like. Member of EMT & CCCOE Street Teams. Paypal payments expected within 3 days of initial Etsy order and money orders and personal checks within 7 days. I'm flexible on time if you just let me know the status. SHIPPING I will be shipping to your verified Paypal address. Otherwise, please notify me (via convo or email me directly at ftnilson[at]aol.com) immediately after your purchase with the correct address. I ship Paypal purchases the same day or next business day - same with postal money orders. If paying with a personal check I will wait for payment to clear the bank before shipping I ship USPS Flat Rate Priority or regular Priority for smaller boxes. Larger boxes or multiple orders are less expensive to ship via UPS. I will ship to Canada, just convo me so I can figure out shipping and change the listing. Insurance is optional and up to the buyer's discretion. I pack very carefully and want you to receive your purchase intact. I double box when necessary to ensure the safe arrival of a ceramic item. Once it is in the hands of the Postal Service, naturally, I cannot be held responsible for any of the variables, such as loss. I use recycled bubblewrap and packing peanuts and am very generous in the use of both. I pack a piece in bubblewrap until I can no longer feel the pottery when I squeeze the bubblewrapped piece. I overpack with peanuts until it is difficult to tape the box shut. This is not done to annoy the buyer with an explosion of peanuts at its opening :-D It is done so there will be no likelihood of the piece shifting during shipping. GIFTS If you are sending a gift, please let me know if you would like me to include a personalized note. Please contact me indicating the correct address for shipping to gift recipient. RETURNS & REFUNDS: I do not mind refunding any item in its original condition if you are unhappy with it within a week or so of you receiving it. Please be advised I do not refund shipping costs, and you will be responsible for return shipping. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: After purchasing, simply proceed to checkout using the Paypal link at the bottom of the item page to complete your payment (Paypal processes card payments safely & confidentially. You don't need a Paypal account to pay). Member of the Etsy Mud Team Member of CCCOE (California Crafters Club of Etsy) Member of The Fine Arts Federation
